Looking for paint correction? 4 simple aspects to consider.

Do I need a paint correction?

By Mark Barger

February 5, 2024

Maintaining the shine and appearance of your car goes beyond regular washing and vacuuming. With exterior paint in particular, it’s not just about the color; it is a statement about the personality of the owner and the condition of the car. But as your car ages or faces the elements, your car’s paint can lose its spark. If you’re wondering if your beloved chariot needs a makeover, you might be wondering: Do I need a paint correction? Understanding paint correction Paint correction is much more than simply waxing or polishing your car. It involves a meticulous process that removes the imperfections from the paint surface, resulting in a flawless finish. Think of it as exfoliating your skin; it gently removes the outer layer to reveal the fresh, smooth surface beneath. By doing this, paint correction can rejuvenate the appearance of an older vehicle or eliminate flaws on a newer vehicle.

How do I maintain a ceramic coated car?

My customers consistently ask me when they plan to have their vehicle ceramic coated:

“How do I care for the car after it has been coated? Is there a specific way?”

I would like to answer this question in text and video form. One of the simplest explanations is that ceramic-coated vehicles simply require regular washing and occasional sanitizing by your detailer.

I recommend that my clients take the car to which I have applied a ceramic coating once a year for a thorough sanitization, a light clay treatment to remove any surface contaminants, and an inspection of the coating itself.

The general guidelines I recommend for a coated car are:

Wash weekly or biweekly with a special car wash soap, using two buckets with grit protection inserts.

or

Rinseless washing method with microfiber cloths and microfiber wash gloves and Optimum No Rinse (preferred method).

If you cannot wash the vehicle by hand, I highly recommend taking it to touchless car washes, without rotating brushes actually contacting the vehicle.

This is very important because MOST COATING WARRANTY can be voided if you go through a car wash. Contact your detailer and ask him or her if your coating warranty also covers brush washes.

Regardless of warranty status, brush car washes can eventually leave curl marks and scratches in your car’s clear coat, despite the existence of a ceramic coating. Again, while many ceramic coatings are scratch resistant, they are not scratch resistant.

All this being said, ceramic coated vehicles are extremely easy to clean and maintain compared to vehicles that are not coated. With a thorough washing process, your vehicle will look better than ever after a simple wash.

Do Ceramic Coatings Need Waxed?

Do Ceramic Coatings Need Waxed?

One of the incredible benefits of a ceramic coating is its ease of maintenance.

Ease of maintenance, that sounds like a detailed term, but what does it mean?

It means you spend less time washing, no time waxing and less time cleaning and protecting your vehicle.

Wait, you said… no time to wax?

If you’re waxing a car with a ceramic coating, you’re frankly wasting your time.

The ceramic coating has already bonded to your clear coat, creating a hardened layer of SIO2 (vitreous) protection that is much more durable, long lasting and chemical (insect, bird droppings, salt etc.) resistant than any wax.

Not to mention, these coatings are extremely slippery and repel contaminants from the surface, so if you try to apply that wax to the coated surface, it won’t stick like it would on a vehicle without ceramic on it, making the application much more difficult to complete.

Another factor is that, like the dirt that lands on a ceramic-coated car, the wax will not adhere in the same way as it would on a regular uncoated car.

Most likely, the first time you hand wash the car again, all the wax will wash away and your time will be wasted.

How do you maintain a ceramic-coated car? Well, that’s a story for another post, and we’ll get to that.

But to answer the core question: NO, you do not need to wax a ceramic coated vehicle. Part of paying the upfront price for a ceramic coating (or the investment in time and effort if you’re going to try to ceramic coat your car yourself) is that it makes maintaining your car LESS time consuming, giving you MORE time to enjoy driving and your life.

Pure Bond Ceramic Coating System

Published

on

By

Pure Bond Ceramic Coating System

What is the Pure Bond ceramic coating system? How is it different from other retail stores’ process?

The Pure Bond Ceramic Coating system. What does that mean?

The simple explanation is that it is a system designed to achieve the best possible adhesion to your ceramic coating by carrying out a multi-step cleaning process to ensure that you get the best possible adhesion, and therefore the best and longest lasting results for your ceramic coating.

The long explanation is as follows:

You see, ceramic coatings, like many other services, are all about the advance preparation.

When you’re painting a room in your house, you can’t just grab a bucket and slap paint on it. You need to clean the wall, sand it if necessary, remove old wallpaper, and once the wall is clean and dry, paint it.

When applying a ceramic coating, you cannot simply wash the car and then start wiping off a ceramic coating. This is the main reason why consumers are disappointed with ceramics used by dealers.

A vehicle must at least:

  • Washed thoroughly
  • Clay blocked to remove invisible contaminants stuck to the paint
  • Machine polished to remove wax and sealant and keep paint looking good
  • Wiped down with a product specific prep product before applying the ceramic coating

Well, we’ve taken the basics of what SHOULD be done, and multiplied it several times.

While any good ceramic coating installer should at least follow these simple guidelines, our Pure-Bond system takes these simple guidelines and multiplies them many times over so that there is absolutely nothing left to change.

As crazy as it sounds, many companies these days don’t seem to want their customers’ business anymore. It feels like you are bothering them if you even call to make an appointment.

Not here. We offer the Golden Rule guarantee that you will be treated exactly as we would want to be treated in your shoes. Courtesy, friendliness, professionalism and transparency.

Why Choose Visual Pro Detailing for your Ceramic Coating?

My name is Mark Barger, I am the owner and operator of Visual Pro Detailing.

There are many options out there. Professional detailers, detailing shops and even dealerships that offer many different choices when it comes to car maintenance.

There are also many different pricing options and consumers often don’t know who to turn to when purchasing car maintenance services.

This message is not intended to ‘sell’ you, but simply to make you aware of why YOU, as an individual, may want to consider doing business with us.

  • We rightly care about you, your car and your business. In a world where customer service is being lost and where it seems like companies are being “tricked” by potential customers, we have built our business not only around high quality detail work, but also around great customer service. You can find a detailer or detail shop in many different places in Southern Illinois, we view our customers as friends and treat your car as if it were our own.

To us, it’s not just shiny bottles, the tools and products we use are an extension of the results you get when you hire us to detail your vehicle. We don’t use the cheapest, we don’t use the most expensive for the sake of being the most expensive, we use what works best regardless of the cost to get you the best possible results.
  • Customer service seems to be a lost art. And while we’re certainly not perfect, we strive every day to be responsive, return voicemails, emails, and contact forms promptly, and follow the Golden Rule Guarantee, which means treating you the way we would want to be treated.

I’m not going to write you a whole book, but the gist of this is that we care, we want your business, and we can’t wait to hear from you.

Can you remove scratches from a Ceramic Coated Vehicle?

Can you remove scratches from a Ceramic Coated Vehicle?

It happens when you own a vehicle, even with a ceramic coating.

What happens if it gets scratched?

The good news is that this is usually a fairly easy process to repair, even with your ceramic coating.

If you have localized scratches, such as from a cat or a handbag, or from a dealer technician rubbing against your paint (as in the picture above), these can usually simply be buffed off the surface and that specific area repainted. is coated.

If it happens all over the vehicle, for example if someone washes the vehicle with rough brushes, things get a little more complicated. If the scratches really bother you at that point, it is best to have the paint corrected on the entire vehicle and reapply the coating.

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

An old saying that helps us understand that preventing scratches is not always possible, but by using good washing technique and hand washing, except in the case of touchless car washes, ceramic coated vehicles usually get very minimal scratches.

Well, my car got scratched. It drives me crazy. What can I do?

Schedule a maintenance appointment with your detailer!

At Visual Pro Detailing in Benton, Illinois, we offer ceramic coating maintenance packages that will thoroughly clean, sanitize and rejuvenate your ceramic coated vehicle to return it to new shine, smoothness and water beading. If you have any minor scratches or scuffs during this appointment, we can treat these as well. For most small things we include this in the price, but for larger panels there may be a small additional charge.

Ceramic Coatings Buyers Guide For 2023, how to choose.

Ceramic Coatings Buyers Guide For 2023, how to choose.

I am a car owner. How on earth do I choose a ceramic coating, or how can I have a detailer install a ceramic coating for me? It has all become so confusing.

Okay, let’s dig into this and make it as simple as possible, but also as real as possible.

Just so you know, my name is Mark Barger, owner of Visual Pro Detailing in Benton, IL. Small national retail store, but we do over 150 ceramic coatings per year.

One of my passions is helping people make the best decision for THEM when it comes to car maintenance, not just what makes me money.

So I’m going to throw this blog post out into the universe, and hopefully it will help some people.

First of all, a ceramic coating is NOT a good investment for you if you meet the following criteria:

  • You don’t like washing your car by hand or regularly. A ceramic coating is NOT a license to not care for a vehicle, it is intended to make regular maintenance of a vehicle easier. For perfect directness, it is better to have the vehicle cleaned and waxed regularly instead of a ceramic coating if you do not plan to wash your hands regularly.
  • You plan to use automatic car washes with large brushes and valves to wash your car regularly. These types of car washes are extremely damaging to vehicle surfaces and will cause scratches and swirls in your ceramic coating even with regular use. Again, you are better off having the vehicle cleaned and waxed every few months.
  • You can’t afford it. A ceramic coating is an investment in protecting and preserving a vehicle. It’s also expensive, even if you do it yourself. A high-quality professional detailer will likely charge $600+ in 2023 for even an entry-level ceramic coating with very little cleaning and polishing before the coating is applied. There are much more budget-friendly ways to take care of your car if you have the time, energy and motivation (but most don’t, which is why these services from professionals are so popular).
See also  The Ultimate Guide to PPF Installation: Protecting Your Car's Paint

Okay, that being said, I’m still looking for a ceramic coating installation, how do I go about purchasing one?

What you should pay attention to when purchasing a ceramic coating installation from a professional. This is not an “all-inclusive” list, these are the most common things as a full-time professional detailer that I believe consumers should look for when purchasing a ceramic coating.

  1. Don’t focus so much on the product. There are a LOT of really good, high quality ceramic coatings on the market today. New ones are released, upgraded and improved every year. Detailers also tend to “chase” coating brands and switch quite often. High quality brands with proven track records and results include Gtechniq, Gyeon, Opti-Coat, Ceramic Pro, IGL, CarPro and SPS. There ARE other quality brands, but these are the industry standards for a reason.
  2. Focus on the detailer or shop who will be applying the coating. My biggest suggestion before making an appointment for a ceramic coating for your vehicle is to actually go to the store where you are considering having your coating installed and speak to the installer or store manager in person. I know this seems old fashioned, but a handshake and eye contact can go a long way. Is their store clean and organized? Are they friendly and knowledgeable? Are they trying to “push” you into the sale, or are they willing to answer your questions and make recommendations?
  3. Ask about the aftercare of the coating. What type of maintenance does your shop or detailer recommend after application? Do they have a maintenance sheet or videos that will walk you through how to maintain the vehicle after the coating has been applied? How much do they charge for a standard maintenance package and how often do they recommend having this done?
  4. The price. I know people who have read this far are eagerly waiting for me to tell them what the price is and should be for such a service. At this point I will probably have to disappoint you greatly. Across the country, the cost of this service varies greatly depending on your geographic location, how much competition there is in the area, what type of coating they apply, and how difficult it is to clean, sanitize, polish (that i.e. polishing the paint). (commonly called paint correction in the industry), prepares and applies the coatings. I will say that an entry level ceramic coating can start at $600, and a professional grade ceramic coating that covers all exterior surfaces of the vehicle can range from $1,200 to $3,000+.
  5. Price is not the most important factor. The detailer, how comfortable you are with them, their track record, attitude and willingness to provide you with great service. Often a smaller detailer or detail shop that is less well known can give you an even better service because they value building a relationship with you, not just getting a one-time sale.

This isn’t the be-all and end-all of how, when, and why to buy a ceramic coating, but it should provide some simple guidelines if you want to cut through the mud and find someone to install one for you. They provide an incredible shine, are easy to clean, easy to maintain and maintain the appearance of your vehicle. I sincerely hope you find a great detailer who can fit one for you in the future!

See what happens during our professional detailing + ceramic coating packages within…

(See the images below the text for the full walk…)

Benton, IL Ceramic Coating Specialists.

I really enjoy the transformation part of what we do for our clients.

This Ram was covered over the winter and the owner wanted to not only restore it, but also protect it for years to come.

Sounds like a perfect opportunity to run one of our ceramic coating packages…

First of all, EACH of our ceramic packages includes an exterior detail that is not quick, easy or quick.

We thoroughly clean all surfaces so the vehicle is ready to be machine polished to a diamond-like shine. This is an essential step in the process so that when we apply the protective ceramic coating, it retains its shine.

Next is the paint correction process, better known as polishing, but at a level not often seen. This is not a “quick fix” where we run around the vehicle in 45 minutes and the paint looks worse in the sun than it did before the process started. This is a slow, thorough process designed to remove swirls, scratches and fading and restore the appearance of the new car.

If your truck’s paint no longer has the shine it used to have, or if it is new to you and no longer has the shine it should have (dealers do a terrible job of keeping new vehicles looking new) , then this is the process to make it look great again.

After polishing (this truck took about 8 full hours) the Pure Bond process is carried out. This is a step-by-step thorough cleaning process to remove dust, polishing oil and anything from the surface that would hinder the proper adhesion of the ceramic.

Think: spotless.

Now the ceramic application. We use professional-quality ceramic coatings that permanently bond to the surface, creating a barrier between your vehicle’s paint and the elements. It also maintains the shine of your new or new vehicle, eliminates the need for waxing for the life of the coating and makes washing a breeze as dirt, bugs and grime are extremely easy to wash off a ceramic coating are. vehicle.

After it is coated? You wash it, dry it and it looks like you spent the whole weekend detailing it.

Our customers love it. Our Pro Ceramic Coating package is by far our best seller and includes a limited lifetime warranty. We ceramic coat not only the paint, but also the wheels, plastic trim and all the glass, with products designed specifically for those surfaces.

The LEAST talked about benefit of a Ceramic Coating

Published

on

By

The LEAST talked about benefit of a Ceramic Coating

Let’s talk about preserving your vehicle.

Believe it or not, this is 100% not a ceramic coating.

You see, one of the most destructive forces on vehicles is the sun and the UV rays that rain down on it.

In addition, chemicals (for example from road salt), juice, iron particles (for example from brakes), juice, tar, street film.

All that stuff will slowly but surely leach into your expensive clear coat on your paint over time.

Have you ever wondered why headlights fade?

Because UV rays have damaged the factory paint on the headlights, causing it to fade and oxidize.

Okay Mark, so what’s your point in all of this?

Some facts for you about this:

When you buy a brand new vehicle, no matter how much it costs… there is NO protection whatsoever on your paint unless you paid for it.

If you don’t wear protection, it will immediately be exposed to the elements I talked about above.

This is why SO many vehicles look SO bad after just 1-2 years of ownership, the belief that because they are new they DO NOT need protection.

It is waxed so it will last longer than 1 year.

This is also wrong.

Most waxes only last a few weeks, a few months at most.

Even the more expensive silica-based sealants only provide 4-6 months of protection under ideal conditions.

If you apply a wax to your vehicle that only lasts a month and then let it sit the rest of the time, your vehicle’s paint will be completely unprotected for 11 out of 12 months of the year.

See also  Elevate Your Vehicle's Defense : Customization Options for Paint Protection Film

Automatic car washes, while convenient, DESTROY wax and most sealants very quickly.

Want to know how those car washes, even the coin-operated ones with wands that don’t touch the paint, get the car clean?

The soaps they use are VERY acidic, they remove all the wax easily in a few washes. It’s not their fault, they want you to have a clean car, but the chemicals in those washes are extremely harsh.

I enjoy selling ceramic coatings, I enjoy protecting people’s vehicles and helping them look their best.

The reason we believe in them so much is not only because of their hydrophobic (water-repellent) properties, the ease with which they are cleaned, the beautiful shine, but because they
preserve and protect the vehicle’s appearance in the long term.

The strange thing is… This is definitely the least discussed benefit of ceramic coatings to the public.

Far too much emphasis is placed on the ability to shed water, and not enough on protecting the vehicle owner to keep their vehicle looking great after years of ownership.

If you don’t want to buy a coating, I get it! But I would at least recommend using a long-lasting sealant 3-4 times a year, PLUS a spray wax or sealant after every wash or any other wash if you use automatic car washes at all.

If anyone has any questions about car protection, we are happy to answer them for you!

NEW – Sediment Suspension Ceramic Coatings

New technology means better, shinier and more durable coatings than ever.

NEW OFFER FOR CERAMIC COATING BY VISUAL PRO DETAILING

So anyone who knows anything about me (Mark Barger, owner of Visual Pro) knows that I am absolutely obsessed with protecting my customers’ cars as best as possible.

I am constantly looking for new technology, new formulations and even subtle improvements that can give you a better result when you invest your hard-earned money in protecting your vehicle.

The problem is that in the last five years… nothing new has come out that was actually *better* than what already existed in the industry.

Well, that has changed.

Over the past 3-4 months (this article was written in June 2023) I have been one of the few detailers in the world testing a completely new ceramic coating technology that is about to overtake the detailing world.

The coatings are based on the so-called Sediment Suspension Technology.

What the hell does that mean?

Well, without going all out, this means that the protective elements and chemicals are vastly more concentrated than any other ceramic coating, because there is a new technology that keeps all the elements in suspension in a much more efficient way.

So when we wipe this product over the surface, you get a much thicker, more concentrated layer of ceramic protection than…

Something. Everywhere. Even the “multi-coat” ceramic coatings cannot compete with this.

Has the dealer installed products (that are designed to be easy to apply and not durable)? They don’t hold a candle to this.

These products have been lab tested HUNDREDS of times and have blown away everything in the industry during these tests.

Everything, without exception.

So guess what our customers will get on their cars from now on?

See image below for a visual representation. The solids (the material that makes the coating hard and durable) are so highly concentrated by this technology that they actually ‘settle’ at the bottom of the bottle and must be shaken before the coating is applied to keep the nanoparticles evenly distributed throughout the bottle to distribute. the surface.
